Give a Day RVA at Evergreen Cemetery – FULL

**THIS EVENT IS FULL! THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE VOLUNTEERS WHO HAVE SIGNED UP!**

Established in 1891, Evergreen Cemetery is the final resting place for several notable Richmond area African-Americans like Maggie Walker and John Mitchell Jr. The cemetery has been abandoned for years and is overgrown with brush and ivy and has been used as an illegal dumping area. Due to the delicate nature of the gravestones, heavy equipment cannot be brought in to assist with the clearing and clean up needed to preserve this part of our region’s history. This is why your volunteer time is so important!

Volunteer Tasks
Clear and haul debris to make room to better identify and mark graves, help clear roads and access points. Remove invasive plants and vines.
