Send-A-Kid to Camp
Send-A-Kid to Camp works to give local at-risk youth a meaningful summer camp experience. Children enrolled in the camp are immersed in fun activities each day that includes art and cultural enrichment, health and physical education, science and environmental education, and personal and social development as well as field trips. The cost for eight-to-nine weeks of camp range from $250 to $350. Donations from the annual radiothon are used to provide scholarships for those who need them. It is part of the department’s promise to make the camp available to and affordable for all children in the city of Richmond.
The annual Send-A-Kid to Camp radiothon is made possible through a partnership with the City of Richmond Department Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities, the Enrichmond Foundation, RadioOne, and the Alexander Lance Booker Child Safety Foundation.
